What happens at an ear check
Using a lit scope, the pharmacist looks down your ear canal and at your eardrum. This shows whether wax, an infection or swelling is behind your symptoms, so you get the right treatment, or a referral to your GP if needed. The NHS also has a helpful guide to earwax build-up.
How microsuction ear wax removal works
Microsuction uses a tiny vacuum tip to draw wax out while the pharmacist watches through magnification. No water is involved, so it is cleaner than syringing and suits most people.
